Stari Grad is one of the oldest towns in Europe, though it is still quite unknown to travelers. Stari Grad was settled by Greeks from the island Paros in 384 BC, the year Greek philosopher Aristotle was born! Due to its position at the end of a long, protected bay, and rich agricultural land, it was the ideal location for settlement. Today, the bay still offers protection to boats and sailors, and the agricultural land is still giving and is even protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (the Stari Grad Plain).

Along with our ‘Meet the Crew’ series, we thought it would be good to go into more detail about the roles of the yacht crew. The interior team is the heart of a yacht charter’s service; from being greeted with a smile, to the million details they take care of throughout the day to ensure their guests have the best possible experience.

Now, it might seem obvious what the role of a chef is aboard a yacht, yet we still get a lot of questions and confusion about how the food works on board and why the preference sheet is important. So, we thought to try and make it clear, we would write a blog about it.

Dalmatia, located on the trade routes between the Orient and Occident for millennia has given birth to many explorers, whose curiosity lead them to follow scents of exotic perfumes brought on the winds, and intrigued by the unusual objects and people that arrive by boats, they set sail to go explore distant lands. This land gives birth to many a sailor- who are traditionally men, and had she been born a man - Sunci says she would most certainly have been a sailor. But as it is, Sunci was a girl, born in a house next to the sea, in Kaštela, where men grow into sailors and fishermen, and whose great grandfather participated in the discovery of Papa New Guinea. She too was born curious about the distant lands beyond the sea, other cultures, and people, but she became - an artist.

For seasoned sailors and regular charter guests, the role of the captain on a crewed yacht charter may seem self-explanatory, but for first time charter guests, everything is new. So, we thought we’d explain the roles. The captain is undoubtedly a very important person aboard a yacht, so what exactly does his or her role entail?
