An artist who sails, windsurfs, loves to travel and listen to the stories of people from all over the world and capture in paint enchanting encounters as they are happening.
This artist has lived and exhibited internationally, having studied Fine Arts at the St. Martin’s art college in London. Her exhibiting journey which started in Paris in 2004 took her to Mexico, Istanbul, Budapest Rome, Milano, and New York, and she has even spent periods living and painting on the islands Hvar and Palmižana.
Though Sunci spends solitary “studio time” painting large dimension artworks in oils on canvas. As a freshly graduated young artist living in Rome, in 2006 she started painting from life, the people who inspired her in her social circles. This included actors, film directors, writers, artists, curators, collectors, and sailors. She has painted portraits from life while conversing with notable art collectors such Dakis Joannou, Kenny Schachter Rove, members of the Rothschild, the Fendi, the Salini families, European royalty, and among many artists some whose names stand out like Luigi Ontani, Maurizio Cattelan, the photographer Martin Parr and conceptual sculptor Marco Castillo.
Over time Sunci developed live painting art performances, which were designed to capture portraits of several people during a set number of days in a specific context, and during which each individual had their own private experience of being a live muse.
This concept took Sunci to the Greek island Hydra and to Athens in 2019, during the Deste art foundation exhibition openings and art events hosted by the art patron Dakis Joannou. Sunci painted from life in Venice, hosted by the famous 1730 Café Florian on St. Mark’s square during the private opening week of the 59th biennale. One performance was also hosted at the G-Rough art hotel in the heart of Rome.
Now as a mother with her own nest of two little artists, Sunci lives in Split, while an ancestral cherry orchard in Kaštela has become the open-air art studio for her large paintings. Always excited to travel, have an adventure, and have inspiring encounters, this summer for the first time Sunci has decided to set sail in a new direction with her work, and open the live painting to art lovers, sailing into her native Sea, the beloved Adriatic.
At Otium Yachts we are excited about this unusual and innovative concept as well as the opportunity for our guests to experience art in a unique way. As a result, our guests will be able to get a beautiful memory from their travel, that expresses moments of happiness, relaxation, and entertainment with their loved ones. What better way to celebrate an unforgettable trip sailing the blue Adriatic sea with dear people than to have someone to capture key moments & live atmosphere creating an eternal memory for all involved.
