Yacht Charter Croatia, Meet the Crew of Gulet Tajna Mora. At Otium Yachts, we pride ourselves on working with some of the best in the industry. With more than a decade’s worth of experience, we learned that the crew is the heart and soul of a yacht charter experience. The crew are the ones who transform a good holiday into an exceptional sailing holiday. Hence, we are just as passionate about presenting the crew from the yachts in our fleet as we are the yachts themselves. This week, we introduce you to the crew from gulet TAJNA MORA.
Filip Jakir, Captain
Filip’s family history at sea stretches back an astounding eight generations. Filip has been at sea since he was three years old and while you could say life at sea was destined – it was never forced. It is Filip’s love of the sea and sailing that has kept him in this industry. Filip’s family bought TAJNA MORA in 2014 and Filip has been the captain ever since. Filip’s other experiences include sailing aboard the Oosterschelde in the eastern Atlantic, a 50 m three-masted topsail schooner because he wanted to sail on a classic ship. Filip also sailed in the Caribbean; previous guests from Tajna Mora chartered a yacht in the Caribbean and wanted Filip to be the skipper – which says a lot about Filip as a skipper and person. Filip is interested in meteorology and astronomy, so, whenever possible, he loves night navigation. During a night sail, Filip will often gather guests on the deck and enthusiastically talk to them about the night sky and constellations – genuine moments like this become treasured memories for his guests. Filip is always active; he loves sailing and windsurfing in his spare time. All those who step aboard TAJNA MORA instantly feel Filip’s joy and passion. Year after year, TAJNA MORA has many returning guests which says it all. Read our interview with captain Filip here.
Ivan Jukić, Chef
Ivan’s chef journey starts very sweetly at the age of five. Ivan spent a lot of time with his grandmother, so he grew up helping her in the kitchen, learning to make bread and traditional dishes. As Ivan grew up, his passion for cooking grew with him. After finishing culinary school, Ivan worked in many well-known seafood restaurants on the Adriatic coast and islands. Ivan also spent two years working in Germany to gain new skills and experiences. Eight years ago, Ivan moved his career to yachts as he always loved the sea and was excited about the new challenges this environment brings. Ivan has been with TAJNA MORA for the last five years. Finding a great chef is a hard task these days, keeping a chef for more than a season is even harder – this speaks highly of Ivan, Filip, and Tajna Mora. Ivan loves communicating with guests about their wishes and preferences, and he thrives on the freedom to prepare and present his creativity. By nature, Ivan is determined and always looking at ways he can grow which is why he is continually experimenting, improving, and changing his menu. Ivan stays true to the region and enjoys cooking Dalmatian cuisine – with a twist. If you sail with TAJNA MORA, you will surely try his famous “Cuttlefish with green beans” – a dish which has a history dating back to Roman times! Ivan is a reliable and loyal crew member and sees himself on TAJNA MORA for the foreseeable future – which will please old and new clients alike.
Luka Jakir, Deckhand
Luka is Filip’s younger brother; he also grew up at sea and is now following in Filip’s footsteps by studying at the Faculty of Maritime studies. During summer, Luka is aboard TAJNA MORA, not only because it is the family business but because – like his brother – he gets great joy from being at sea and taking care of their guests. After 14 years in the industry, Luka still looks forward to each season because he always learns something new and his long-term goal is to become a captain. In his free time, Luka is all about cars, motorcycles, and sports – especially football.
Ivan Klismanić, Bartender
From the moment you are welcomed aboard TAJNA MORA and Ivan hands you your first drink, you know you are in good hands and your holiday can begin. Ivan’s philosophy is that each crew member should know what is best for the guest at any given time and be on hand to meet (and exceed) these needs. After finishing hospitality school, Ivan worked in various bars and restaurants before he realized that he wanted a new challenge – this is where he switched to yachts. Ivan recognized that a yacht would provide him with the perfect environment to meet new people and showcase his love for customer service and attention to detail. Ivan loves the intimate setting a charter yacht provides, as he loves having time to properly present food and drinks, and give his full attention to his guests. Ivan is another loyal crew member and has been on TAJNA MORA for 6 years now. Outside of yachts, Ivan is a family man and enjoys sports, football is his favorite.
Ana Marija Markioli, Stewardess
Ana Marija is currently a student of Social Work at the Faculty of Law in Zagreb. Ana Marija has worked in various positions in hospitality since she was 15 years old before joining the yachting industry in 2020. At first, Ana Marija wasn’t sure if she wanted to work on yachts but after stepping aboard Tajna Mora, she instantly felt comfortable, and after one sunset, she was in love with the job! For Ana Marija, the best part of the job is meeting new people, visiting new destinations, and constantly learning. Though Ana Marija has not worked aboard yachts for long, her previous experience in hospitality and positive attitude makes her perfect for the role. Ana Marija is a hard worker who loves being part of the team and delivering excellent customer service to the guests – all with a smile. Ana Marija is a wonderful and welcome addition to the Tajna Mora crew.
