Yacht Charter Croatia, Meet the Crew of Gulet Libra. At Otium Yachts, we pride ourselves on working with some of the best in the industry. With more than a decade’s worth of experience, we learned that the crew is the heart and soul of a yacht charter experience. The crew are the ones who transform a good holiday into an exceptional sailing holiday. Hence, we are just as passionate about presenting the crew from the yachts in our fleet as we are the yachts themselves. This week, we introduce you to the crew from Gulet Libra.
Marko Mrcic, Captain
The Mrcic family had been in the service and hospitality industry for more than 30 years; owning restaurants and clubs, boats, and luxury villas. The Mrcic family also had a long history at sea; Marko’s great-grandfather was a fisherman, and his father sailed as an officer in the Yugoslavian Merchant Navy for 10 years. Marko grew up around the sea, spending every summer at sea with his parents, and training in the optimist class from a young age. Before Libra, Marko skippered sailboats, catamarans, and motor yachts. Then, in 2013, when Marko heard that Libra was for sale, he knew it was the right yacht for him.
“We searched for a Gulet for many years, when we saw Libra, it was love at first sight.”
Marko is an experienced sailor and captain, in love with the Adriatic coast, and dedicated to customer service. Marko is an exemplary captain/owner, he speaks perfect English, has detailed knowledge of the Croatian coast, is welcoming, and can suggest the best itinerary and activities for his guests. Marko loves going above and beyond for his guests and leaving them with lasting memories. Anyone who sails with Gulet Libra is in good hands. You can read our interview with captain Marko here.
Antonio Misicin, Chef
Even while attending Culinary school in Split, Antonio was a part of the kitchen team at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Split. Antonio continued working in Radisson Blue for two seasons after receiving his professional chef’s diploma in 2015. Antonio left his mark at Radisson Blue and was invited to join the team at Yellow Tree – a new fine dining restaurant in Split. Following this, Antonio spent a season aboard a mini-cruiser as a chef; this change in scenery led Antonio to a new career path aboard yachts. Antonio’s ambition was to present his professional skills to smaller groups of people, with an intimate and personal approach. When accepting the invitation to join Libra’s crew, one detail stood out to Antonio – that Libra’s galley is open which gives him the ability to showcase his skill and passion for culinary art to guests. For those interested, Antonio is happy to share secrets of the trade and recipes. Guests always comment on this part of the experience and love watching Antonio in the kitchen creating magic. Antonio’s inspiration comes from locally produced, seasonal, and fresh ingredients.
Matea Đaja, Hostess
Although this is Matea’s first summer onboard she quickly found her way around the boat and the guests. With years of experience in the hospitality industry, she is more than capable to fulfill almost any request and task given to her and her cheerful personality will make anyone’s day. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
During the winter she is teaching in elementary school, loves to work with and be around the children what contributes greatly to successful charter when having families with children on board. Her hobbies are modern ballet, hiking, sports, and reading.
Dino Sindik, Deckhand
Dino is an experienced deckhand. After working as a 3rd Officer on cargo ships and a skipper on speedboats and sailboats he decided to step up and move his career further working on charter boats where he can improve both his maritime and hospitality skills. Being a calm person, a team player, and fluent in English he quickly became a valuable part of Libra’s crew. Dino is very passionate about sailing. Sailing is part of his life since he was a 2-years old. He took part in sailing competitions and he was a two-time champion in Croatia and he won 9th place in international competition. He was also a sailing instructor for two years.
